Jo Ann (Tate) McGuffin, age 67, of Florence, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2024. She was born on January 12, 1957, in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Joe W. and Ruth Ann Tate. Jo Ann graduated from Jesse Stuart High School, where she was in the marching band. She then attended Sullivan Junior College of Business, graduating with a professional secretary certificate. Her work history included The International Brotherhood of Boiler Makers, Luckett & Farley Architects, and 24 years at Procter & Gamble, which she retired from. Jo Ann then went on to work for the Folgers Coffee Company and Smucker’s, both in Cincinnati and Orville, Ohio. She followed that by working at Luxottica and PL Marketing. While at Luxottica, she participated in two “One Sight” trips to Los Angeles, California and Detroit, Michigan to help provide glasses for economically challenged children. At PL Marketing, she became involved in the “Big Brother/Big Sister Program. Her little sister graduates from Newport High School this Spring. At Trinity, where she had been a member for more than 30 years, she was involved in crafts for Vacation Bible School, the Bernece Mackelfresh “We Care” dinners, and Methodist Women’s projects, including serving meals at the Ida Spence Mission and helping with media presentations. She also served on the Ida Spence Board for a few years. Jo Ann was involved with the Methodist Women at the District and Conference levels, holding numerous offices. She is survived by her husband of 45 years Artie McGuffin, their daughter Kristin McGuffin and her fiancée Ben Reinhart, and granddaughters Adelynn and Avery Reinhart. Jo Ann is also survived by her brother Buster Tate and her sister Brenda Raleigh.
