Sharon Lee Melville (nee Hartig), age 55, of Cold Spring, Kentucky, passed peacefully at her home on April 2nd, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.
Sharon was born on October 11, 1969, in Honolulu, Hawaii to Leo and Carol Hartig.
Sharon was an army brat; one of her favorite places she lived was in Texas and she would always tell stories about the scorpions and spiders. She moved to Kentucky when she was in second grade, graduated from CCHS, then moved to Pensacola, Florida. Sharon eventually moved back to Kentucky, where she later met her husband.
Sharon was a devoted Christian, wife, mother, Mimi, daughter, sister, and aunt. She had a strong faith that radiated through her family & everyone she met. Sharon was a member of Main Street Baptist Church of Alexandria, Kentucky. She spent many years caring and teaching young children about the Lord on Kids Avenue. Sharon held tight onto her faith until her death. Through all of her sickness and pain, she knew there was a purpose behind it all.
Sharon and Jeff were together for over 30 years. They were set up on a blind date by their best friends in March of 1994. After their date, Sharon decided she was going to focus on herself and her son Cody. Jeff was persistent though, after a couple months, Jeff convinced Sharon to go on another date. By December of that year, they were engaged and married on July 8, 1995. Jeff took care of Sharon for the last 15 years despite Sharon declaring she was a strong, independent woman. The love of Sharon and Jeff is a true testament of unconditional love.
Besides being a mother, there was one thing Sharon loved more & that’s being a Mimi. Sharon had four grandkids, and she loved them more than anything. She made it a priority to love on her grandkids and spoil them. Sharon loved when they would have a sleepover, color pictures, or have a bubble fight.
Sharon previously worked for Cincinnati Bell, then Huff Realty, before going back to school at The Christ Hospital School of Nursing and graduating top of her class in 2006. She was extremely proud of being a nurse.
Sharon’s favorite place on Earth was the beach. St. Augustine, Florida was her favorite place to visit. She often referenced her family vacation there in stories she would tell. The beach, the ocean, the sand, & the tranquility.
Sharon is proceeded in death by her father, Leo Hartig, brother James Hartig, in laws Chuck and Jean Melville, & her fur babies Jackson & Trooper.
Sharon is survived by her loving husband of 29 years, Jeff, children- Cody Melville, Hunter (Elysia) Melville, Jade (Matt) Kelley, and bonus daughter Angela Ratliff. Grandchildren- Brantley Sebastian, Oliver Kelley, Ainsley Melville, and Ila Kelley; her mother, Carol Hartig; her siblings- Steve (Connie) Hartig, Tom Hartig, & Diana (Jason) Gruner.
