James S. Griggs, Sr., 55, of Fort Thomas, KY passed away December 5, 2020 at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Florence. Preceded in death by his parents Elmore S. Griggs and Mable E. Johnson, brother George E. Griggs and sister Brandy Jo Strange, Jim is survived by his loving partner and fiance Kelly E. Kohrs, dear children James S. (Rachael) Griggs, Jr., Michael J. (Kathy) Griggs, and Heather R. (Ethan Tolliver) Griggs, grandchildren Carson, Jane, and Carter, brother Bobby Strange, sister Betty Strange and beloved nephews George, Charles, and Steven Griggs.
A loving father and grandfather, devoted partner, and a faithful friend, Jim always put others before himself. He was generous beyond measure and had a beautiful soul. Often referred to as a baby or animal whisperer, Jim had a special way of touching other people’s lives, especially those who served in the military. With a sparkle in his baby blue eyes, he was quick with a joke and always exhibited a childlike playfulness. An avid fisherman and hunter, Jim also had a passion for cars, classic and NASCAR.
Jim was a Master Electrician by trade and an accomplished carpenter. He was able to repair, adjust, or build anything he set his mind to. An extremely hard worker, he was meticulous about every detail of his craft. His professional artistry will live on throughout the tristate area. Those he loved in his life and those he served in his ministry can look around their homes and witness the products of his talents.
A celebration of Jim’s life will be held at a later time when it is safe for family and friends to gather.
