Jane Maritza Johnston, age 50, of Covington, KY, passed away on February 11, 2022, at her home after a brave fight with ovarian cancer. She was born on March 20, 1971, in Pucallpa, Peru to Zosimo Cardenas and Elvira Saenz. Jane worked at Fidelity Investments for 13 years and as an interpreter at Shriners Hospital in Cincinnati. In her spare time, Jane enjoyed volunteering at her church, 7 Hills, in Florence, KY, and Big Brothers Big Sisters, hiking and spending time with her friends. Jane is survived by her daughter, Andrea M. Johnston of Lexington, KY, Andrea’s father, Thomas E. Johnston (Laura) of Independence, KY, Micaela Johnston-Magill of Florence, KY, Andrea’s sister and Jane’s best buddy, her dog Dallas, her mother Elvira, her brother Jacko, and sisters Katherine, Shirley & Emma, and many other family members in Peru. She was preceded in death by her father, Zosimo Cardenas, and brothers, Frank & Freddy Cardenas. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 5th at 1pm at St. Barbara Parish, 4042 Turkeyfoot Rd, Independence, KY. The family would like to thank the staff at the Oncology & Hematology Center in Eastgate for their efforts and care of Jane.
